Ferry Routes and Cruises

There are two companies operating ferry services from Bilbao in northern Spain. P&O Ferries and AT Ferries both offer twice weekly sailings from Bilbao to Portsmouth in England.

Port Bilbao Ferries: P&O Ferries Company


Journey time when travelling with P&O Ferries is approximately 29 hours.


The vessels operating on these longer routes offers a selection of cabins, all of which need to be booked. All cabins offer bunk style beds and an en-suite shower room and toilet. Towels and bed linen are provided. P&O Ferries has four categories of cabins to choose from, ranging from the most luxurious Club Cabins to the budget Economy Cabins. Free cots are available for babies.

There is an on-board restaurant serving three course meals and a wide range of self-service eateries for lighter meals and snacks. Several bars serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

On-board entertainment includes a cinema, a casino, cabaret on the overnight sailings and bingo nights. There is also a children's play area offering a host of games and activities.

Shopping facilities are also available selling wine, beer, spirits, perfume and cigarettes at appealing prices.

Port Bilbao Ferries: AT Ferries Company


AT Ferries operates two crossings each week to Portsmouth. The company is run by Acciona Trasmediterránea. Duration of the sailing is about 34 hours. During July and August there are three crossing each week.

AT uses the new Fortuny Sorolla ship. It can carry 1.000 passengers and 300 vehicles. The ferry has six staterooms with disabled facilities, 171 Tourist Class staterooms and 32 Class Club staterooms. Class Club offers satellite television, room-service and mini-bar. The Tourist Class staterooms are incredibly comfortable and offer the highest standard of service.

The on-board restaurant offers a variety of Spanish menus and wines. Other on-board amenities include a spa, swimming pool, a bar, convenience store, sauna, children's play area, movie theatre, a disco and a fitness centre.
